Fourth GM Recall in Under a Month's Time

General Motors has announced it is sending letters to owners of 127,000 Chevrolet Corvette sports cars in North American in order to fix electronic steering columns that can remain locked when the car is started and driven. This auto recall is the fourth one GM has issued in less than a month. The total number of GM auto recalled vehicles have affected over 3.3 million models.

Just a day prior to the Corvette recall, GM recalled 60,000 plus of its SUVs sold in North America. The two recent GM auto recalls amount for nearly 30% of the company's annual sales for new cars and trucks. In 2000, Ford's reputation was damaged after the Bridgestone/Firestone recall that affected 6.5 million tires because of links to death and injury in Ford Explorer SUVs.
